Dearest Kate,
You turned 5 months old today. What a 5 months it has been! You have brightened our lives with your smiles, giggles, and snuggles. At the same time, you have really been challenging us! The unique situations you have brought has allowed God to seriously start overhaulin' your mommy's heart and attitude, but that is for another post.
This month has been a busy one for you - you saw in the New Year and took another round trip flight to Idaho where you spent time with Grandma and Papa and and the rest of your family. You got a bad cold that turned into a mild case of croup. That croup led to a lot of steam showers. You would throw up during a coughing fit at least once a day. But in the week that you were sick, there were only a couple of days in which you were fussy. Here is a picture of you cuddling with Grandma after a coughing fit. You are such a snugglebug!
Your favorite things to do right now are to watch and laugh at your brother and take showers. You absolutely love the water right now.
You still hate car rides, but only scream about 50-60% of the time now. You don't like shopping trips or really letting mommy get much done at all.
You flirted for the first time - with your betrothed, Justus. Here is a picture of the two of you together. This was taken at a previous visit when you were showing him your high maintenance side - but hey, it is good for him to see that from the start, right?!
The biggest thing that happened to you this month is you were prescribed glasses. The doctor thinks you have accomodative esotropia. Basically if you don't wear glasses, your eyes will remain crossed and will get worse. Your prescription is a strong one at +7.5 diopters in each eye. After you have worn your glasses for 6 weeks, you will get checked up again to see if they are helping. At that time, they'll better be able to understand what is going on with your eyesight. We picked out your glasses yesterday - you definitely will be the cutest 5 month old to wear glasses - in your mother's very biased opinion! Hopefully they won't bother you to wear them - yesterday while trying them on, you kept trying to turn your head to chew on them. I can't wait until our order comes in!
Here is a picture of you sitting in your Boppy seat - your muscles are getting stronger and you like to sit in it for longer periods at a time. You and Sam were playing trains together. You really enjoyed it.

How sweet! I cannot wait to see that girl in her glasses. She is gonna melt us all with her cuteness!!! I still gotta get over there and see that new room in the background of your pics :)
I love it. Such a neat way to 'scrapbook' some great memories. She'll love reading this. Can't wait to see her in her glasses - hopefully it is just what she needs. Adeline will be so envious...
