Catching Up

It's been a while since I posted, so here is my life in a nutshell since then:
Shopping at Flower World for veggies to plant & some flowers for color
Demonstrator mtg at Julie's - fun projects, yummy fondue & margaritas & manicures!
Mother's Day - pancakes, gifts, food with family, and relaxation
Working on projects - sewing Amber's apron, Mother's day gifts, etc.
Sam locked me out of the house!
Scrapping with Amber - whoo hoo! I've made it to this decade and century - no more 90's baby!
LOST with hubby
Sam's 18 mo check-up - he's catching up, but unfortunately probably has allergies
Ava's party in the park with our pals
Chevy's with the Mitchells & shopping with Amber
Packing and trying not to panic
Flight to Idaho with Sam - he did great other than pooping right as we boarded!
Spending time with family this week in Idaho includes:
welcoming my sweet niece Elizabeth Hope (Ella) into the world
babysitting 4 mo old Adeline & 5 year old Dexter
managing Momma's boy Sam and his separation anxiety
worrying about my Grandma who just had a stroke
Mom's retirement party
still trying to finish the gifts I am making for family - holidays & birthdays
loving watching Sam giggle and play with his papa - what a blessing!
Missing Chris and my friends
Chris comes on Friday for the weekend, I can't wait to see him - miss you babe!

Flashback Friday - Party like it's 1999

I've been enjoying my '99 pictures this week & I am sure that you have been enjoying those that I have shared with you on my blog.  So here are some more...oh the days of living in the South!  Here are two of the signs that we would see in Tennessee.

Translation needed due to the bad resolution on the old camera - the sign reads:

3-N-1
GIFTS ~ FURNITURE ~ SOCKS

What a store!

Anyone hungry?!

And check out the gas prices.  Don't you miss those days?

Monster Monday

I am looking through disks for some particular pictures from 1999.

I ran across this hideous one.  I don't remember ever seeing it before - and this isn't the type of image that can easily be forgotten.  I'm assuming this was a Chris creation...

I hope you are all able to sleep tonight.

Just hanging out...

On Friday, my in-laws were over and we were chatting.  I used the phrase "hanging out" and my FIL was like, "Where did that saying come from?"  So that peaked my curiosity... so I googled it (what would we do without the internet?!)

Turns out that the term "hanging out" originates from the days of hanging as corporal punishment.  The townsfolk would get bored and would go "out" to watch the "hanging".

Interesting...  And now you know the rest of the story...

Flashback Friday

The picture isn't the flashback, it's the sight of Sam with a binky.
We found an old one yesterday and gave it to him to see what he'd do.

As you can see he still had the concept - but put a new spin on it!

A Meaningful Quote

As I said in an earlier post, I am trying to finish my "Journey To Motherhood" scrapbook about my struggles with infertility and how God worked in our lives during that time leading up to the wonderful blessing of Samuel.  I have a bunch of quotes or verses that people gave me during that time.  For some reason, I can't remember who gave me this one, but it was great to reread it on Tuesday.  This works for my life right now as well.

"My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going.  I do not see the road ahead of me.  I cannot know for certain where it will end.  Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so.  But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you.  And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing.  I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire.  And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road, though I may know nothing about it.  Therefore, I will trust you always, though I may seem to be too lost and in the shadows of death.  I will not fear for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone."
