Just hanging out...

On Friday, my in-laws were over and we were chatting.  I used the phrase "hanging out" and my FIL was like, "Where did that saying come from?"  So that peaked my curiosity... so I googled it (what would we do without the internet?!)

Turns out that the term "hanging out" originates from the days of hanging as corporal punishment.  The townsfolk would get bored and would go "out" to watch the "hanging".

Interesting...  And now you know the rest of the story...

I'll never use that phrase again without thinking of it's origins. LOL

I think I'll go with "just chillin'" from now on. :)
